S02010 - Error message 'An overrun occurred on the communications port' appears during the data
download
This error message usually means that the computer was not able to keep up with the data that was coming in
during the download. It most often occurs during longer downloads and short downloads of data may work on
the same computer without error.
There are several things that can be done to address this issue. The first step to try is simply rebooting the
computer. If the computer has been running for a while, and has a lot of applications being used in memory, it
may not be able to keep up with the processing of the downloaded data. You may also want to try lowering the
speed of the baud rate that is selected in the software.
If these do not help, or if the problem occurs consistently, the communications port may be getting interference
that is limiting its function. The best long term solution to this is to bypass the serial port by using a USB to
Serial Adapter. These devices allow you to plug into a USB port and create a new communication port for the
