S10002 - My PDA is not synching with my PC, what is wrong?
If your PDA is no longer synching up with your PC via activesync, the first thing to try is a simple reset of the PDA. Using the stylus, tap once in the small hole on the bottom of the PDA. This will ‘reboot’ the PDA and many times will fix synch problems.
If that does not work then the next step would be to check the connection settings in Activesync. If you double click on the green (or grey) circle icon in your system tray (down by your clock) you will bring up the Activsync window. Then click File>connection settings. If you have your PDAs cradle connected through a USB port make sure there is a check in the box for “Allow USB connections.”
You can also check your com settings here. If you have more than one selection in the menu, and you’re not connecting, you can try the other com options to see if they are the right settings to connect.
**Note: For our purposes ‘synching’ is not as important as simply ‘connecting.’ A simple connection will allow the data to be transferred from the PDA to the PC. Synching is when the software copies over your emails, or bookmarks or address book and such.
If your com settings are correct, then the next step would be an uninstall and reinstall of the ActiveSync program. To uninstall it you simply go to Control Panel and ‘Add/Remove Programs.’
When you reinstall ActiveSync it is best to download the latest version (4.5 as of 8/20/08) from Microsoft. The website can be found here:
