Collect accurate traffic data on rural, unpaved roads
When bare road tube is installed on unpaved rural roads,
gravel roads or dirt roads, it is frequently damaged by heavy
vehicles and by abrasion from rough ground, gravel or sharp
stones. Such damage usually means the job must either be
terminated early with loss of valuable information and
accuracy, or the site must be re-set with consequent
re-scheduling delays and higher costs.
RoadRAMP RURAL axle sensors are a practical, cost-effective
solution for temporary installations on rural, gravel and dirt
roads. RURAL sensors, consisting of a tough, low-profile,
rubber ramp with a built-in road tube, are covered along their
full length by a wear-resisting tape for extra protection against
damaging vehicle impact and abrasion from gravel and sharp
stones.

The 24 ft. or 36 ft. long RURAL sensors are installed by stretching each unit across the road and securing them
between 12 or 14-inch spikes driven into each shoulder. Two RURAL sensors, laid in parallel, are required for
classification jobs. A length of standard road tube connects each RURAL sensor across the shoulder to the traffic
counter.
RURAL sensors can be used with all TRAX recorders and most other pneumatic traffic counters. Any wear or
damage to the RoadRAMP RURAL™ sensors can usually be repaired, allowing each sensor to be re-used many
times.
