NOTE: Version 2 of TRAXPro now has the built-in ability to upload firmware into the TRAX Flex HS. We
recommend using TRAXPro for this purpose rather than the FlexFlash program.

FlexFlash
Update Released October 1, 2007

FlexFlash is a utility program that can be used to update the firmware of a TRAX Flex HS data recorder. Note
that only the TRAX Flex HS has the capability to have new firmware uploaded. Other TRAX recorders do
not.

Firmware is the program that runs inside the TRAX that tells it how to operate. Periodically, new versions are
released to add new features or enhance existing ones. The FlexFlash program can be used to load the new
firmware into your TRAX Flex.

First, identify the current firmware version in your TRAX Flex to
determine if you have the latest version or not. The firmware version
number will be displayed in the lower right corner of the Flex's display
when it is first turned on, as shown here.

The current firmware version is
1.1.06, which is included with the
download below

Downloading
The file you will be downloading is FlexFlash Install 1106.exe. This is a self-extracting and installing zip file that
contains all the files necessary to install the FlexFlash program. The file size is 3.0 MB.

To download the file, click on the
Download Now selection below. When the File Download screen appears,
select
Save and make note of where the file is being saved. Once the file is downloaded, double-click on it and
the installation for the program will begin.

Instructions for Use
Once the program is installed, turn the TRAX on and connect your TRAX Flex to your computer in the same way
you would if you were downloading data from the TRAX. Then, start the FlexFlash program. You will be
prompted to select the COM port. To do this, use the dropdown box at the lower left of the program.

Once the Com port has been selected, click the Open button and you will see a screen used to select the
firmware you want to upload into the Flex. Select
Flex1106.hex for the latest version.

The program will back up the existing firmware and then begin transferring the new firmware.

Once the transfer is complete, the program will verify the new firmware and then write it to the TRAX. Do not turn
off the TRAX while this is happening. Once the writing is complete, the TRAX will reboot itself.
