Frequently Asked Questions
Are there instructions for the Data Module?
Yes, the Data Module Guide provides details on how to use the data module.
Can the module store more than one count?
Yes. The module can retrieve and store up to 200 different studies from any TRAX recorder. The size limitation of the amount of data
that can be stored is 4 MB.
Can I clear the module from the software?
No. The module can only be cleared through connecting it to a TRAX counter.
I can't retrieve files from my TRAX with the module. What's wrong?
There are several possible reasons why this may occur.
1. The TRAX cannot be collecting data while you are attempting to download data to the module. All counts must be ended by
turning the TRAX off before sending the data to the module.
2. Double check the steps you are taking to retrieve the data. The module should be plugged into the Comm. Port on the TRAX. On
the TRAX, select Utilities from the Main Menu, then select Mod. Select Write to send the data from the TRAX to the module. The
Status selection can be used to check what is currently stored in the module while the Erase selection can be used to clear the
module.
Why won't my module download to the software?
There are several possible reasons why a module may not download to the software.
1. You may not have the Data Module's power supply connected. When retrieving data from a TRAX counter
in the field, the module is powered by the TRAX. However, when you download to a computer must use the
module's power supply to provide power. The label for the power supply is shown to the right. Make sure the
power supply is connected before proceeding with the download.
2. You must use a JAMAR universal cable for the download to work correctly. The counters have a custom configured output and will
not work with a standard serial cable.
3. There may be a conflict with how your software is configured. Check the Software Support page for more details on your specific
program.
