The RAC Geo II takes all the benefits of the RAC Plus I and adds an on-board GPS receiver and data memory. This allows for distance measuring without the need for an external sensor, and for data to be stored to the unit's expansive memory for later download to a computer, creating an unparalleled combination of accuracy & convenience. This cost-effective unit saves time & money by allowing personnel to measure distance, accurate up to 1 foot per mile, while recording GPS coordinates of roadway features – making it the most powerful DMI on the market.

This unit is a replacement for our older model RAC Plus III and RAC-200 DMIs.
Benefits and Features
GPS Distance Measuring
The RAC Geo II contains a built-in GPS receiver that can be used for distance measuring in place of an external sensor. This reduces your overall cost since you don't have to buy an external sensor. The accuracy of the GPS distance measuring is 1 foot per 1000, which is as good (and usually better)than an OBD plug-in sensor. Should you need the greater accuracy of a magnetic or modular sensor (1 foot per mile), the Geo II does have the option to do distance measuring with either of these external sensors.
The RAC Geo II will allow you to store up to 400,000 events in memory. Ideal for inventory applications, the Events are identified by using a four digit numeric code (0 thru 9999) to identify signs, guide rails, pavement markings, intersections, railroad crossings or other highway features. Events are stored in nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM). This NVRAM will hold your data for approximately 50 years, or until you clear the memory.
Download the stored data to your PC or laptop using our RACPro software. The downloaded data contains the memory location (0-3500), event code(0-9999),distance, interval distance, time and speed for each event.
Record Accurate Distances along with GPS Coordinates
Exclusive only with the RAC Geo II, you are able to store up to 30 hours of continuous GPS data, at one second intervals, while recording roadway distance in the RAC Geo II's internal memory. Using this powerful inventory tool, you can record road features (intersections, bridges, signs, guide-rail, etc.) along with their distance and GPS coordinates.
Unmatched GPS Recording Accuracy
The RAC Geo II uses a GPS receiver which incorporates the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) for improving accuracy of GPS signals. WAAS uses a correction signal created by a collection of 25 land-based stations that are spread out across North America. This correction signal is then broadcast from specialized communication satellites.
With WAAS enabled, our 66 channel GPS receiver capability allows 2D GPS accuracy of approximately 2 meters. Without WAAS, depending on the location in the continental US and satellite accessibility, horizontal GPS accuracy is approximately 6 meters. This, along with the RAC Geo II's distance accuracy of up to+/- 1 foot per mile provides unequaled data collection capabilities.
Several Data Retrieval & Processing Options
There are two methods that can be used to retrieve distance and GPS information from the RAC Geo II.
In its most basic configuration, you can simply record and then read the distance and GPS information off of the RAC Geo II's display. This can be done while the vehicle is stopped, or while it is moving, depending on the number of people doing the data collection.
Another method is to have the RAC Geo II store the events of interest, along with their distance, latitude & longitude, as you key them in. When using this method, the GPS coordinates can be stored every second while roadway events, with their distance & latitude/longitude, are stored as you enter them. This data can then be easily downloaded to the RACPro processing software for analysis, reporting or exporting to external software like Excel or commercially available mapping programs.

RAC Geo Auto Adapter Power Supply
The RAC Geo Auto Adapter Power Supply provides power to the RAC Geo by plugging in to your vehicle's 12 volt power outlet (cigarette lighter). A built-in green LED light lets you know if the adapter is getting power from the vehicle's outlet.

RAC Geo GPS External Antenna
While the RAC Geo's on-board GPS receiver will track distance, we recommend the use of the external GPS antenna for the best accuracy. This screws into the top of the Geo II and comes with the unit. RACPro is data analysis & reporting software for the RAC Geo II Distance Measuring Instruments.
RACPro is a Windows-based program for use with the RAC Geo II Distance Measuring Instruments. It allows you to download surveys that have been collected with the RAC Geo II and once that data is in the program it can be analyzed and edited in a variety of ways. Comprehensive reports, which can be customized to suit your needs, can be produced.
Data can also be collected and sent from the RAC to a computer in real time.
Data that has been collected with GPS coordinates can also be mapped using the optional MapPoint software or Google Earth. Note that mapping with Google Earth requires an active Internet connection. Mapping with MapPoint can be done offline.
Introduced in 2010, this program replaced the older WinRAC Plus software.
