Video Mode

A popular way to do turning movements and other traffic studies is to video record the location and later count the traffic while watching the video playback.  The new Video Mode selection of the TDC-Ultra is designed to let you do this in an efficient manner. You can now do a count by running the video faster (or slower) than real time and also take breaks during your counting without disrupting how the data is stored.

With Video Mode, you can complete a study in a fraction of the time it would take to do it in real time.  In addition to standard turning movement studies, the Video Mode of the TDC-Ultra also supports Roundabout, Vehicle Classification and Multi-direction Gap studies. All studies can be processed with JAMAR’s PETRAPro software.

Turning Movements

The TDC Ultra makes collecting intersection data fast, accurate, and highly intuitive. Featuring a 16-button layout that mimics a standard intersection, 12 keys track standard left, through, and right movements, while 4 user-defined keys easily capture bicycles, pedestrians, or custom metrics.

Technicians never have to take their eyes off traffic; data is automatically stored at every time interval, completely eliminating manual note-taking.

Advanced Vehicle Classification

  • 3-Class Studies: Use the integrated ‘Bank’ buttons to separate trucks and heavy vehicles from passenger traffic for instant percentage breakdowns.

  • Up to 14-Class Studies: Perform enhanced studies utilizing FHWA standards or custom schemes via 14 dedicated classification keys at the bottom of the unit.

Seamless Data Management

The TDC Ultra stores multiple studies—complete with dates, times, interval counts, and site codes. When the study is complete, quickly transfer the data to your computer via USB to our PETRAPro Software to instantly read, edit, map, and print comprehensive reports.
